Happy Christmas everyone...

... from Lucia, Gaby and Libby (pictured relaxing on my bed last week).
I am looking forward to almost two weeks off work, with lots of opportunity to relax, catch up on a few jobs and enjoy some festive cookery.
This year I tried the new Nigella christmas cake with tia maria and prunes (highly recommended) and the souped-up cranberry sauce masquerading as mincemeat (the jury is out on this one). And once again I made a weightwatchers low-fat christmas pudding, which is deliciously moist and light.
If you are intersted the rest of the christmas menu is:
  • blinis with smoked salmon, egg, caviar (only lumpfish alas) etc with champagne
  • pear and stilton soup (Sophie Grigson recipe) with home-made walnut bread
  • turkey crown, guinea fowl and duck legs, with the usual accompaniments - and an intersting-sounding brussels sprout puree served with Fleurie
  • the pudding as above, served with eiswein
  • various unusual cheeses eg gorganzola piccante from Aldi with some port I found in the cellar
More shortly...
Happy christmas and new year,
Lucia
